Toni {Antoinette}

Adopted May 2010  !!

Pupdate  May 8, 2010

Toni is doing pretty good!  She has a number of medicated baths, her white blood cells were very high - probably due to five years of flea bites and infection - so she is on antibiotics and also on antihistimines to help with all that itching.  She will need to be spayed, but we have to wait until her infection and skin settle as we don't want to risk cutting her open up and putting her at risk for the infection to spread.

She will be getting ready to move on to her foster home this week, but she's going to need a lot of TLC.  She's been through so many years of neglect.

We'd like to thank our Rescue Angels for sponsoring little Toni

Toni's friend, Princess
Little Toni

April 27, 2010

These two dogs have not had medical attention in over seven years.  They lived in a home that was flea and roach infested.  They were fed cat food instead of dog food and Toni was never walked outside the house.  Toni [whose real name is Antoinette], was so flea infested and had such a horrid skin condition that half her body is missing hair and her skin is covered all over in scabs.  Little Toni is a very tiny Sheltie, weighing less than ten pounds.

This all transpired at 3:00 on Sunday afternoon [April 25] & they were whisked over to Dr. Abraham's office ~ staying open late specifically to see them.  They got the dogs into a flea bath right away and they are now resting comfortably at Noah's Ark and getting a full medical work up and evaluation - everything from bloods to heartworm testing, vaccinations and spay.

Thankfully Princess is not in as bad condition as Toni, but she is old, about 12-13,very arthritic and we still have to see what her blood tests reveal.  She has a very bad infection in her mouth that will need to be tended to.  We have some calls into some all breed rescues and are hoping that someone will step forward to take on this sweet senior.  If  anyone knows of someone who may like to  adopt Princess, please contact Julie @  sheltielove94@aol.com.    Though she is not a Sheltie, there was no way she was being left behind!

Toni is going to need ongoing care and a rehabiltative home before going on to foster care and then hopefully adoption.  It is going to be a long haul for this little one.  When she got into the car, she rested her head on my arm and did not move - she feel asleep.  I cannot imagine how uncomfortable her life has been for all these years.Please keep both these dogs in your thoughts and prayers.

 If anyone would like to donate to Toni and Princess' care, it would be greatly appreciated.  Just click on the "sponsor me" icon below.
