Our first experience with a large group of shelties directly from a puppy mill breeder in Lancaster, Pennsylvania ~ known as the "Lancaster 11". Their journey began in September, thanks to the hard work and coordinated efforts of Laura Flynn, Camille of Rawhide Rescue, Aneita Frey [our President/Founder] and Diane O'Donnell of Long Hill Kennels ~ then off to their foster homes .
Each sheltie has a personal page, whether still being fostered or already in his/her forever home ~ but this page will be maintained to show pictures from September 30, 2007 to most current appearance [if possible]. When viewing the before/after photos for each sheltie, click on the one at right to visit personal page/read their stories.
NJ Sheltie Rescue Annual Picnic, September 28, 2008 .... One year almost to the day since their rescue from the puppy mill !!!
Their entire lives had been spent in small cages under deplorable conditions [3-4 per cage, no sanitation, lack of fresh water, etc].
Never knowing love, kindness or gentle handling .... just being grabbed by whatever part of the body was closest to the cage opening, then roughly pulled out for something unpleasant and/or painful.
Cinnamon was adopted mid-March. This picture was taken April 13th ~ she looks right at home with her new siblings, Willie and Ellie
