PupDate from Snoopy's new family ~ October 2008
Snoopy is settling into the family well. He is such a sweety, but definitly can be a little devil at times. He and Abby get along pretty well, however, he does sometimes chase her around the house and try to hump her. She doesn't appreciate that. Otherwise they usually hang out together. They love to be side by side when we take them for walks or for a run. Snoopy wants to go faster than "mom" can run, but is learning to go at a slower pace.
Although we have dog toys all over the living room, he particularly likes chewing on socks and underwear. Hannah is fast running out of both. He is good about dropping them and taking a toy in its place. He's never growled or showed his teeth. He is getting better at coming in from the backyard when called, even when he doesn't want to. He sleeps with Hannah every night and sometimes just goes into his/her bed during the day to take a rest.
The first couple of weeks he jumped up on Rocky's cage and barked at her. They often went nose to beak ~ but keeping just enough distance. I was amazed at how Rocky would just sit on the floor of her cage with her beak within a few inches of Snoopy and just hold her ground while he was barking at her . Fortunately he pretty much leaves her alone now. He'll still sometimes go over to look at her, but that's it.
We started obedience class this past Monday. He enjoyed looking at himself in the mirror. He did "sit" and "down" well, but barked at and pulled toward the other dogs in class. Abby pulled more and barked louder, so both need to work on it. When the instructor came over to Snoopy, he ran behind Hannah until the instructor gave him a treat. He then warmed up to her.
Attached are a few pictures we took of Snoopy. One night Abby was lying on the couch with her head on the arm rest and Snoop was right behind her with his head on her back. It was soooo cute, but when I got up to get the camera to take a picture they both moved.

Hi, My name is Snoopy and I just turned ONE YEAR OLD.
I'm a big boy, about 19-20" at the shoulder and a total whirlwind of activity. Except that my energy isn't being directed very well and I get in trouble.
My 1st family didn't know what to do with me. I would knock over their little kid, play too rough & drag her around by the arm, play "keep away" with stuff like socks, crayons, chew the door frames when bored.
Someone came to see me & do something called a "behavior assessment". She said I need an owner who has knowledge/experience with untrained/unruly adolescents, SHELTIE experience, LOTS of patience & the TIME COMMITMENT to help me learn what IS and IS NOT appropriate behavior. Said I thought I was the "alpha" of the household and shouldn't be allowed to do that [whatever that means]. Said I should not go to a home with kids under age 12, but that I COULD go to a home with other doggies [had a lot of fun playing with the doggie brought along for my "assessment"]. I must have a fenced yard.
