Sly came to us right after the Easter weekend as our very first foster! He was found as a stray in very bad shape. Poor boy had such rotten teeth, causing him liver problems and poisoning his blood that the vet had to pulled 16 of them.
This however didn’t stop him enjoying his food in anyway!!! He was infamous for his pre-food whine, sometimes escalating to a sharp bark or two, if the food was not forthcoming. Otherwise, he was the most laid back, gentle and friendly guy I have ever met. He loved all people, kids and other dogs He was simply in heaven when going for a leisurly stroll through the woods, smiling broadly, as I watched his little tail wag in energizer mode. He was very dedicated about checking his pee-mail and answering messages at his own pace. He found his forever home with a wonderful young man, who grew up with Shelties, and was taken by Sly’s easy go lucky attitude to life. The two of them live in Pennsylvania, going for at least 3 walks a day, sometimes hanging out together at work and enjoying visiting the grand parents and his Sheltie cousins and even sheep cousins regularly. Although Sly wasn’t much impressed with sheep! He just prefers getting his loving from the wonderful people in his life.
No “Sheltie” is an island, as Bon Jovi once said!
