These are pictures of one of our fosters, Angel. She came to rescue with a 'full blown' yeast infection that had been going on for years. Angel's skin improved over a five-six month period & as of June 22nd we are happy to report that she has just been adopted !! Click here to see how totally fabulous she looks :)

It took 4-5 months to clear the yeast infection from Angel's system. Her foster mom [Donna Colletti] used the following regime ~ partly Rx through the veterinarian and partly holistic:
1. NO GRAIN diet
2. 1 shot cortizone at very 1st vet visit, 6 weeks Cephalexin, at least 2 weeks on [need name] ear meds, continued ear treatment using the 'blue treatment' found at "It's For the Animals"
3. alternating the following shampoos: Zymox, Virbac "Epi-Soothe", Malesob
4. Products from Nature's Pharmacy ~ Clora-care, DogZymes digestive enhancer [puts good flora back into the digestive system]; 9/11, PhytoFlex and Immunoguard
5. Twice daily ear cleaning/Tx with special formula [see above link]

Understanding Your Pet's Systemic Yeast Problems by Linda Arndt, www.greatdanelady.com
[opening paragraph..... click on link above for eye-opening & extremely helpful information !!!]
"If you are reading this article it is probably because you are at the "end of your rope" with your pet’s skin and/or ear problems. Far too often when dogs are diagnosed with allergies, they are in fact really suffering from a systemic yeast infection, be it on the surface of the skin or20the whole system. If this is the case, antibiotics and steroids will not clear up the source of the problem. They only address secondary bacterial infections and provide temporary relief from itching."
