~ Shadow ~

Pupdate September 20, 2010
Great News !!    Shadow has been adopted by his foster family :)

Pupdate  8/28/2010   Shadow ~  now has a foster home & is adoption pending.

NOTE  ~  Shadow must have a fenced yard

Shadow is coming back to rescue after several years with his adopting family. They are heartbroken that they can no longer keep him. His adopters neighbors are being unfair and complaining about his barking. And she works long hours so he does not get the exercise he needs so when he goes outside he is very wound up and wants to run and bark.

Shadow walks very nicely on leash, sits on command and will stay sitting. He is completely housebroken. Not food aggressive. Shadow loves to play. As with many shelties, he can be mouthy {not to be confused with biting} especially when rough housing, which tends to reinforce the mouthiness. He loves to run in his yard & is very, very fast [can catch a rabbit]. Also loves to ride in the car.

Shadow's various issues have gotten better over the years, but he still needs understanding & training to help him continue improving. He has a very strong herding drive ~ probably "needs a job". Some shelties are known for being barkier than others ~ and Shadow is no exception. He is very sensitive to all stimuli, including routine sounds in the house For this reason, we think a quieter house and neighborhood will be better for him vs. one with lots of activity. He does have seperation anxiety when his owner leaves, he likes someone home with him. This is also very common in shelties.

His current owner works long hours and he is alone a lot and need someone to be there to play with him. He loved her grown sons who used to live with her as they played with him all the time.

Although Shadow walks nicely on leash, he is very nervous about dogs that are running loose. He puts on a show like he wants to fight but it is a show as he is insecure about any new dogs until he meets them. Once he knows a dog he is fine.

Please give our boy a chance as he really is a typical sheltie that needs exercise and a job to do. He is in great health so even a home where he may get to run or jog a lot would be considered.
