Puppies !!!

little girl ~ 1st day home [July 25th]

little boy ~ 1st day home [July 25th]

'Puppy No-No' and 'No-No Puppy' are litter mates  ~  about 4-1/2 months old judging by their teeth [no permanent teeth so far, but a few wiggly baby teeth].      Haven't been 'officially named' because we assume they won't be with us that long   LOL.

The boy is about 16 lbs and has large bones, large feet so we think he'll be 19-20" at the shoulder, perhaps 40 lbs.   The girl is 13 lbs and will be about 15-16" at the shoulder, maybe 30 lbs.    They are in foster care together and quite the active/energetic pair

The girl would be a great agility and/or flyball candidate.... she's fearless, climbs/jumps over things [like the expen], flies through the 20' agility tunnel in her foster mom's home, learned stairs like in a "minute",  is actually very kitten-like the way she pounces on things or launches herself from the sofa.  She's VERY talkative.... chatty when you aren't doing something fast enough like getting her dinner ready or  if someone we meet doesn't spend enough time ooohing & aahhhing over her

The boy isn't as manic in energy when he's separated from his sitter [wait ... that's sister... yes, she does SIT on him a lot  LOL].   He doesn't bark as much or cry/whine when put in his crate for a nap.   Settles down very quickly.   He's also very playful, as you would expect ....  but his "batteries"  aren't in hyperdrive / zooming PAST the pink bunny like his sister.

JULY 25th..... 1st day home ~ playing with all the toys
wrestling
snoozing .... after all that play & wrestling

Play bow ~ then the pounce !!
I love that expression on his face :)

Can you believe how CUTE they are  ??

August 1, 2009

Buddy was intimidated by our energizer puppies the first few days ~
       maybe due to their size?
or their constant wild wrestling with each other ?
plus those sharp little baby teeth ?

As soon as they were brought out to the living room for playtime,  he'd "book upstairs" & watch from the landing.

Then they learned how to do the stairs [little girl 1st in new adventure, as always]

Socializing the Puppies ~ Very Important :)

"Gosh mom ... what if I step on one of them by accident ??  They're so little !!!!

As you can see from the videos below ~  Buddy got over his nervousness

and now he's playing with them

The little boy playing with Buddy [his sister was getting too wired, so had a "time out" in her crate]

At first,  they were running through the tunnel ... chasing each other or chasing Buddy.   Then they used the tunnel for wrestle matches  and taking things to chew on.   I wasn't able to tell what they were doing, if they might be getting in trouble ~ so unfortunately, the tunnel had to be put away   [Sorry, Buddy ~ I know it's your "favorite toy" & now you can't tease Sashi with your usual "hide 'n seek tag"].

So,  out came the laser light  ~
A  WONDERFUL  way to wear out puppies !!!

August 3rd  to  8th

Socializing puppies [introducing them to lots of people] during the first month in new home is really important.   Cinnamon & her family came to visit on August 4th.

It's "just heavenly"
to hold a puppy....

Cinnamon's mom is certainly
enjoying herself!

Uncle Buddy is helping teach "bite inhibition".

He lets the puppy chew on him for a moment,  then
gently shows her how to play without exerting any pressure from the jaws.

"Aunt Sashi"   [age 10]   and "Uncle Buddy"  [age 7-1/2]  are also rescues from Shetland Sheepdog Placement Svs of NJ.    Click on their pictures for personal pages...............
