PupDate July 2008
On Friday, Donna and I took her two puppies to the vet for shots, and we brought Smiles along for the ride. We went to the park for a walk after the vet visit, and you all would have been so proud of Miss Smiles enjoying the fresh air and big green fields....even when attached to a human! J
On our way back to the car Donna and I agreed that Smiles was actually smiling. Her mouth was open wide and her jaw line pulled back with her tongue a’waggin. She’s definitely still timid about getting into and out of the car, but once she eases into the task at hand, she gets into a little groove.

Smiles has made it up the stairs. Last night she followed me up to go to bed. She has slept next to my side of the bed 2 nights and this morning jumped up on my side of the bed. Even though she will come to Greg and let him pet and pick her up and love her she is definately a womans dog. She gets very happy when she sees me. During the day when I come down the stairs I will find her on the landing with her paws on the second step very excited to see me.

Pup-Date, April 12th
Smiles has surprized us again. Yesterday while I was yaking on the phone with Pam Saylor Greg saw Smiles sitting by the computer chair. He went over, sat in the chair and was petting her. She did not try to move away and seemed comfortable. Smiles did this again this morning ~ while we were having breakfast, she was laying by the computer chair. Greg went over to her a couple times and gave her a piece of toast.

Thanks to everyone who sent their prayers ~ those prayers really did work.
Here are answers to the most asked questions about Smiles:
She is approximately 5 yrs old.
Her temperament is better now than it was when we first got her.
She is more secure with herself and very relaxed for what she has been through.
She is resting and sleeping.
I feel she was ready to get caught and once she was, is now just happy to be safe.
We were out there most nights and weekends, we put up flyers all over and kept them updated in areas where she was sited.
She stayed very close to where she originally got loose, only moving when she was spooked ~ but she was still very much in the same area.
The people in this town were wonderful, helpful and always calling us.
We got by just with the calls that she was ok.
We had feeding stations and knew [generally] where she was.
Yes, there are pet detectives all over.
Our pet detective is in PA. Steve Hagey info@DetectAPetUSA.com http://www.detectapetusa.com/

Pup-Date April 1st,
Smile was caught and is in very good shape, minus the ticks. She is here and resting.
Last night Aneita brought her over and she was quite calm. Allowed 3 peoples' hands all over her to pick off more ticks for quite some time. I was very impressed by the calm in her. She is a different dog than the day I saw her at the kennel. I think I want to say for the better. There seems to be a peace and calm, as well as confindence in her now. I would say she was ready to be caught.
Smiles let me carry her to the xpen. She has not moved since settling in. I made a pillow out of the towel and she is enjoying that. She is watching my other dogs ~ especially when they interact with us. I think she was quite interested in breakfast time. Caught her looking at the dogs around the table, and Omega in my lap. Lexi spent some time with her last evening but when I brought her in, the pen was closed and so Lexi slept with Gabe. Can tell Gabe is checking her out from a distance. They all seem so calm.
This morning when I went in the pen to say hello, she actually looked happy and slightly lifted her front and rear leg for belly rubs. She likes high happy voice, and when I said "Hi Smiles", and she turned her head to me. Lexi is laying in her pen with her. I think most of the day she is just going to sleep and rest.
I thank everyone for their help and prayers.
My Best, Donna
