I have been treating Lexi now for a bladder infection.  Took her to the vet for a follow up yesterday and she did very good.  Walked to the office door but did not want to go in or stay in almost pulled me right out but once in she sat with me.  After the vet did the cysto the techician carried her out and Lexi I asked her to say hello to another customer and she did.  This was wonderful.  We went home and Greg had someone in the driveway and we walked over Lexi sat with me and then she went up to the one guy smell his leg and went back to me.  He did not even know she sniffed him.  I was very please with her and I told her all day how happy I was with her.  Later that day Greg came home with some soft strawberry ice cream and Lexi came over to see what I was eating and I gave her a taste and she though this was delightful.  So since she enjoyed it so much she had several other taste.

It is interesting that several of the mill dogs have had bladder infections.

Lexi's PupDates....

November 2008

Lexi has been real slow, even with Greg.  She is really good at getting breakfast treats now, and when Greg calls her, she comes to his side for a treat ....otherwise she is on my side.

Just to let you know Greg carries her up the stairs every night.  She jumps on the bed and is good till morning.    The other night was the biggy!!!    I was in the other room ~  Greg came back into the bedroom and she did her "happy greet" to him  [very happy-waggy-slither crawl].   The very first time he's gotten the greeting.   It really made his night.

Lexi is more submissive than Smiles in her personality.  Smiles always sits with her head high and Lexi a lot of times you get a head slumped into her shoulders.  She is quite attached to me.  She now has learned to give me these little kisses.  I do not find her responding to other people in the same way ~ she's definitely "her mommy's girl".

Notes from Melissa ......
I have been visiting them at Donna’s house once a month to socialize with Lexi, Smiles & Gabe.  Yesterday [May 19th] we had some wonderful breakthroughs, and I want to share with you all!

Miss Lexie showed me her true stubborn self for the first time.  On my prior visits she would just let me snuggle with her and nap on my lap.  This time, we put the no-slip harness on and attempted to go for a walk.  Well, we got outside (in the rain no less, because it always rains when I go to Donna and Greg’s) and she would not move.  So I decided to have a “we will just stand here until you move” match….which Lexie won because it started to rain too hard and she just was not budging!  We went inside and took her “clothes” off and instead attached a leash to her collar.  Well, we had a blast walking around the house!  She was walking by my side most of the time, paying attention to walk, heel, turn right and turn left.  She knew she was being rewarded though, so Miss Stubborn would sometimes just sit in the middle of the walk and look at me for her cookie!  You could tell she was tuckered out by the end of my visit because she laid down – outside of the pen – next to Omega and took a nap.

January
All the girls are going outside now.  Yesterday they graduated to the large grass pen.  They all get along outside with each other and my dogs.  Have seen Lexi trying to play with my dogs and be part of the group.    She is such an easy dog to work with.   She is losing weight and starting to tone up.

December
Lexi is learning to walk on a short leash.  I am using the words lets walk and she is walking along side me.  When I stop I ask her to sit and she is sitting most times.  I am also telling her left or right for the turns.  We are only doing this inside the house at the moment.  On Thurs. Dec. 6 she went to the vets to have a dental done.  I was cleaning her teeth and notice the top last tooth was loose.  So now her teeth a clean and bright.   Still does not come up to me, but gets real close even tries when some of the other dogs are around.  I will be very happy the day she will walk up to me.  She is really a great dog.  Easy to live with and she has a very happy attitude.  She goes out and in with my dogs.  She has kept her house clean.

Earliest notes from foster mom Donna on October 16th

Gabe is making slow steady progress.  Came home Sunday and he moved about his xpen and sat with head up.  I went into pen and he continued sitting with his head up.  This was big.

Lexi is happy in pen, but will only come out when you are not near and if you are, she sits behind the xpen looking out.  Has no problem with you petting her and rubbing her belly in pen.  She seems to be happy to see you there.

Glory B loves her belly rub.  Held her while having breakfast this morn.  She is the most steady.

Sadie is back and forth.  She is the boss top female of the group.  She thinks it is great to prance around her very large xpen, wag her tail high and bark at us any time we go up the stairs.  Getting used to being petted, but still not sure.  Greg held her at breakfast and she did relax.

Angel [now Pearl] scats a lot when you go in pen, but will take any food from you.  She is starting to relax more with petting.  Not at the picking up stage.

None of them will come up to you when out of pen, but they seem to be investigating more.  They all seem to be happy to see me when I come down the stairs or in the door.
