Pup-Date June 8, 2008
Friday afternoon GloryB, Max, my friend Joe and I were joined by Buzzy Miller at West Deptford Middle School for an assembly on Puppy Mills.
Here are some pictures, some are blurry since Joe didn’t want to use the flash. It was crazy since we were competing with the band practicing in the other room. GloryB and Max did great. They were greeted by and petted by about 100 students. I can’t believe I had the courage to speak in front of all these kids.
Meeting GloryB and seeing how different she was from Max (a pretty normal dog) really drove home [for these kids] the emotionally scarring that is done in the puppy mills.

Early education ..... These kids will think long and hard before considering a future puppy purchase from local pet store !!!!

Pup-Dates April, 2008
Just wanted to let everyone know that GloryB is doing fine. She is still afraid of us humans, but is making progress in other areas. She loves to go outside early in the morning and at dusk. She just walks around sniffing all the wonderful smells of squirrels, birds, moles, etc. I keep a good eye on her, but without her seeing me. She even barked at someone going by one day.
The other night she actually fell asleep on the sofa next to me. I brought her up there for some light brushing and massaging, then slowly moved away from her. Normally she would bolt off the sofa as soon as I moved, but the other night she just enjoyed being up there. I took some pictures.... She’s actually getting used to the flash going off since I’ve been taking so many pictures.
She has been so good at housetraining that I have left her crate door open all the time, while I’m at work and during the night. She hasn't had any accidents. Also, she is exploring her surroundings and being comfortable lying down outside of her crate and not under a table. She actually curled up on the floor not 3 feet from me yesterday while I was watching TV. That was a first!
She watches everything we do. But not with that scared empty look we used to see. It’s more of a curious, ears up look. I take that as a good sign.
I have attached a picture (from a cell phone) of GloryB letting me snuggle up to her Sunday morning.

Pup-Dates March, 2008
GloryB has graduated to her own foster home. Carol, her foster mom, & Carol's daughter will be sure she gets lots of TLC, massages and tummy rubs.
First couple of days, the other shelties don't pay a lot of attention to her. But Max (one of Carol's rescues who had a rough start to life) likes to be near her ~ not too close ~ it's as if he's telling her that he knows what she going through and everything will be okay now.
She's eating and drinking regularly and spends time outside of her crate ~ very alert and watching everything/everyone constantly. She happily trots around with her tail wagging when mom is getting her food ready. She is very comfortable exploring the house as long as no one is around. She’s pretty good at going potty outside....only 4 accidents in the first 2 ½ weeks.
Right now she tolerates being picked up, massaged, petted ~ trying to get her used to human touch and teach her that it can feel good. We are taking things slowly to make sure she isn't stressed by too much/too soon.

Max and Rusty are both adopted rescues from a few years ago.
Along with Emily and foster mom Carol,
they are all helping GloryB learn how to be a "pet".
