Clancy spent about 2-1/2 weeks at the Hillsborough Kennel before going home with Foster Mom Janet and her two adopted shelties.
In her words, he's "a laid-back charmer, a kind and gentle soul without a nasty or aggressive bone in his body. He’s been exposed to so little that almost everything frightens him, but he’s quick to recover and responds well to patience and encouragement. He’ll make someone a WONDERFUL pet !!"
We knew he'd been the "house dog" compared to the others in his group that had been kept in small cages all the time, but there was still a lot for him to learn. He got along well with his sheltie foster sisters ~ and they were busy showing him the ropes. He was introduced to stairs and mastered them after a day or so. The concept of screening/glass doors was also new ~ but after a few bumps on the nose, he figured all that out ....... and he was also enjoying TV for the first time. Leash walking will take more time, as he becomes startled by sudden/loud noises [lawn mowers, cars, and all the things he's never been exposed to].
