~ Pumpkin ~

Pumpkin came to me in the spring of 2004.  She was adopted from Shetland Sheepdog Placement of NJ.  I spoke with Anita on the phone and told her I had another sheltie and wanted a friend for her and was interested in Pumpkin.  Nakita (my other sheltie) & I drove 2 1/2 hours to meet Pumpkin and of course they hit if off immediately.  Pumpkin had some allergy & over weight issues that needed to be handled but I work for a veterinarian so that was not a problem.  After a couple years of allergy shots & a special diet she is now allergy free and a few pounds lighter.  She has been a joy from the start and loves to push her ball around the yard & play tug.  She has slowed down a bit and now enjoys sitting on her porch watching the day go by with the occasional burst of energy after a bird or rabbit.  And I must say that she was my rock to lean on when precious Nakita passed away on Dec 26, 2008.  She kissed my tears away and stood quietly beside me when I would flip through my photo albums.  Pumpkin has made the passing of Nakita much easier and I can't thank your organizations enough for the effort you put forth.  Below is a photo of Pumpkin & Nakita at the Sheltie Picnic 3 years ago.
