Pup Date August 24, 2009

Max & Libby's new mom tells us they are doing wonderfully and are a perfect fit  for the family.

Her parents [that would be Max & Libby's "grandparents"] love them and they are seeing a whole new side to her dad that hadn't been seen before !     Family was invited over for a picnic gathering and Max & Libby had a great time meeting everyone.

Their neighbor has a Great Dane and they were initially concerned about how the shelties would do with such a big dog.    Well,  apparently Max loves him and went crazy playing with the big guy   [wish we had a video  ]

Liebchen ~ means Sweetheart or Dear
Max
Max and Liebchen are now in foster care as of Saturday, July 11th

Their owner passed away. We are not sure of age ~ somewhere between 4 and 7. They are 16" at shoulder and "rather overweight" at 35-40 lbs. In this picture, Max is on the right ~ blinked as picture was snapped :)
They are very friendly and very bonded to each other. We will be taking applications to place them together.

Little Max frequently tags along with you wherever you are going. He is happy to get affection but doesn’t get in the way.

Liebchen seems to pay close attention to what is going on & 'incorporate new skills quickly into her Repertoire' Her foster mom had another visitor, "Hunter" [just left for his permanent home]. Hunter would hunt flies. He would jump up and catch them in mid-air then spit them out. The first evening Max and Liebchen where at their foster mom's house, Liebchen jumped at a couple of flies — not at the same time as Hunter, but on her own.
She's picked up things from the other dogs, too. A scratch at the back of the leg for attention, etc. She is very bright and a lot of fun, even with her quiet & unassuming ways.

Neither dog is “flashy”. They blend into the surrounding and eventually you notice them being there. They love attention, but don’t make nuisances of themselves by pushing at you, or trying to move the other dogs out of way so you pay attention to them 'instead of everyone else'

Max likes the same spot that GloryB enjoys ~ under the potted plant/covered patio

Liebchen and Gigi "sharing" the sofa :)
