PUP DATE FEBRUARY 1, 2010
I just have to say that we are so incredibly lucky to have Braedan with us. When he went back to our vet for a weight check in September, he had gained 3 pounds and our older sheltie, Kellan had lost 3! His coat is getting thick. He even has a little gray patch on his chest. I wonder if he has a little blue merle in him.
I joke that we should have named him velco! He constantly wants to be near me. Of course, I guess I encouraged that with holding him so much when we first got him. I would sit on our glider rocker on our back porch and hold/rock him while he fell asleep.
Our girls call Braedan our "kittycat" because of his mannerisms. He loves to be on our laps and will nudge you with his paw if he wants some (more) loving! We laugh when he does his "vertical jumping". He jumps straight in the air when he gets excited, which is a lot.
We went to the beach the first week in August and took "the boys". They were very well behaved and entertained us with their nightly antics. We would go into town at night and they would always get lots of attention.
He has been wonderful for our older guy Kellan. We haven't seen him so active in years! They run and play together and play tug of war with their toys. They are so funny to watch.
Braedan has made many friends with the neighborhood dogs. His lab.buddy, Indie, has him over for play dates when Braedan needs a really good, exhausting run! He has two collie buddies, Mamie and Johnnie in the neighborhood behind us. He has been very good with his "cousin" Bridie at Mommom's. Bridie just ignores him, but he is well behaved around her.
He has many toys and loves to spread them all around the house. Santa brought him a toy giraffe and a new frisbee. We have had to retire some of his toys because he chews them up!
He endears himself to everyone he meets. My dad really likes him. He stops over in the day sometimes when we are at work and school, just to say hi to Braedan. (He tells us he needs to drop things off, but my mom says he looks for excuses to stop by!)
I made arrangements for a neighborhood boy to come over on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after school to let the boys out and play frisbee with Braedan. Breadan would play frisbee for hours!
I purchased "door bells" because Braedan wasn't barking to go out. The funny thing was, Kellan learned to use the bells before Braedan. Now they both use them.
Braeadan can be ornery. He likes to steal underwear and shoes. He chews when he is left alone. We have had to replace quite a few shoelaces. We have to close the bedroom doors during the day so he won't get into anything. I've also told my girls that if they picked their things up, Braedan wouldn't get them.
I have told many people that we had such wonderful experience with Sheltie Rescue. I honestly don't think I would want to get a puppy again after going through adoption! I am hoping to send some pictures but need my daughter's help to do that!
Thanks again for our little guy, he is a gift from God! Kathleen

Hunter, now Braedan is doing "wonderful, wonderful, wonderful"
They love him and say he is such a beautiful and all around great guy.

They are absolutely, positively loving, loving, loving Hunter! They say he is a complete joy and a little mush and absolutely beautiful. They are getting stopped all over with him. She said he is already a loved family member and wanted us to let everyone know that she had a wonderful experience dealing with the rescue. Things could not have gone any smoother with her process, as far as she is concerned, and that she thanks everyone for their new member of the family.
Initial Pup-Date from foster mom
He is skin and bones. I gave him a good combing last night and got out a enough fur to make another dog! He fell asleep while being combed. I think he really enjoyed the attention. He slept on the bed with me last night, all night.

July 2009
Hunter was dropped off at a local shelter because his owner "was fed up with him". Don't have any idea what Hunter was doing that was so awful he was relegated to the garage ..... when we met him, he was infested with fleas and very, very thin ~ as though his owner was not only "fed up with him", but also intent on starving him to death.
Thankfully, we have a good relationship with the shelter & they contacted us before Hunter had been there 24 hours. ** They were SO overcrowded that dogs were in crates lining the hallways. Any owner turn-in or any stray that was past the 7-day holding period was in danger of being PTS.
