~ Duke ~
Adopted November 2010

Hello!
My name is Duke and today, October 14th, is my first birthday!  Yep...one year old and somehow wound up in foster care.  But that's ok, because I am having a great time playing with the other three dogs here and tonight we are celebrating, but I would really like a home to call my own. My last family was a bit too busy to give me the time and care I needed, so they gave me to the rescue to be sure I'd find the perfect place for me.

So, like I said, I am one today and I am also one fun loving guy (and pretty handsome too - or at least that's what my fostermom tells me all day long.   Look at my photo and decide for yourself!). I have an underbite, but everyone seems to think I wear it well.

I LOVE to play with other dogs and just never want to stop so I definitely require another dog who likes to play and does not mind tumbling around with a fenced yard to run around in.   Did I say I liked to play?

I am house trained as far as my potty habits, but I still have to be watched closely because I do like to eat whatever I can find.  My first day here my fostermom had to rush me to the vet because I ate some socks in my last home.  All is ok, though!  They came out just fine!!!  But due to this, I have to still be crated when my foster family is not home or when we go to sleep at night and I have to be watched closely.

Since my last home didn't have time to teach me everything I need to know, I am going to need someone that is willing to attend some obedience classes with me in an obedience club class setting and show me some consistency and disicpline with my training.  I am pretty smart and catch on very quickly.  I can sit and give my paw very nicely.    I need work with walking on leash because I pull a bit.  When someone tells me "no" or to stop doing something, I just wag my tail at them!   I ride well in a car and I love kids (my first year was spent with four under the age of twelve), so children are fine with me.

So if you'd like to speak to my fostermom about me, please contact Julie @ sheltielove94@aol.com.

Your Friend,
Duke
