She now weighs....*drum roll please*.... 27 lbs!! That's a gain of 6 lbs in 4 weeks. Yay! She's only 2 or 3 lbs. from her goal weight (29-30ish). It seems like a lot of the gain is muscle, so that's awesome. You can still count her ribs, but nearly as easily as before. She has turned into an EXTREMELY athletic dog! Raleigh was always my dare devil dog with his speed and agility. But Dana is quite a bit quicker on her feet than even Raleigh. Maybe she's part Border Collie?? I really need to find this girl an agility home!
My boys play and play and play. But sometimes that isn't enough for Dana, she still wants to play. So she's recently started to play with herself. She tosses a toy in the air and then play bows to it. Then she bounces around and attacks it. Then tosses it in the air again and repeats the process over and over. My boys just stare at her like she's NUTS! If there was ever a Sheltie that desperately needed a JOB to do, it's Dana!
So here are some recent snow pics of Dana and the boys playing outside: |

When Dana first arrived, she didn't know how to play or what toys were.
Now she finds great joy in EMPTYING the toy box ..... it's like her own game. We usually find this in the living room

| Dana
Dana is a beautiful, one year old ball of energy. She's on the larger side (18" at shoulder), but that won't stop her from trying to fit on your lap! She is VERY outgoing and just loves people. As they say, she hasn't met a stranger yet! Dana loves to play, play, play and play some more. When her foster brothers get tired of playing, she makes up her own "attack the toy" games and will play with herself. Being only 14 months old, she still has A LOT of puppy energy.
Dana's beginning wasn't the greatest. Her owner passed away when she was 10 months old. She came into rescue underweight, dirty and scared. She had no idea what toys were or even how to "sit". But enough about her past. Dana has done a complete turn around! She's put on 7 lbs and gotten her confidence back.
Dana would make an AWESOME agility or rally obedience dog. She's very smart and extremely athletic, but she's also very fast! And that means she's going to need a fenced yard. This girl can RUN!
So if you're looking for a new best friend and wouldn't mind sharing your sofa or bed, then fill an application. Dana would LOVE to meet you!

Dana's previous owner died, unfortunately leaving Dana in limbo for a few months while her future was being determined. She came into rescue very dirty, underweight and scared. But now she's getting tons of food in her foster home and a lot of attention.
And boy, does she LOVE attention. Dana doesn't appear to know any commands, but she's smart. So teaching her shouldn't be a problem. She hasn't figured out what toys are yet, but her foster brothers are trying to teach her. She absolutely LOVES people and she's OK with other dogs. Her foster home doesn't have cats so they're an unknown at this point.
