It is with the heaviest of hearts that Jamie and I inform you of the passing of CoCo. Although we only welcomed CoCo into our home in February, he quickly made it clear he was one of the family. After healing from the surgury and complications of the neglect situation he was rescued from, he began to share with us his true self. I was overjoyed when he first play-bowed to me in the backyard conveying that although 11 years old, he still had good times to share. He was comfortable with other dogs and loved people, spending time at agility shows with us and hanging out, even helping as a demo dog, at Port Chester Obedience Training Club. Although we only had him for several months, our attachment was no less cemented.

He suffered stroke-like symptoms on Saturday which progressively worsened throughout the evening. An initial visit to the emergency vet told us what we already knew, that neurological problems had manifested. We brought him home to monitor symptoms, but he experinced a seizure late in the evening and never really recovered any further. At 1 AM, with the help of the emergency vet, he calmly slipped away in our arms.

Very special thanks to Julie and everyone at NJ sheltie rescue who gave us the opportunity to share a portion of our lives with a portion of his. A part of CoCo will always live on with us.
