Pup-Date April 2009
My name is Angel & my foster Mom has done a great job! I really like my foster Dad too. I am ready to find my forever home.
I love having someone play with me. My favorite thing is to play with balls. I love having the ball tossed or kicked [like with soccer] and I even "pop it back" to you. I really love my very large Pilate ball. It's taller than I am, and so much fun!! I run it all over the house. I love it when my foster Mom "pops it up" and I "nose it back". She has to take it away, because I will just keep playing with it all day/all night.
In my other home I lived with a cat, so they are OK. I also had people around all the time. I need a place with few stairs. I now weigh 25 pounds and look ohhhh so good.

Angel ~ 8 yrs old, about 34 pounds
Angel's owner passed away. Family member has been taking care of her, but cannot continue to do so for financial reasons.
Angel is being treated for a yeast infection ~ she chews at her feet [you can see how red/sore they look from the picture]. Could have been caught earlier, but the family's vet thought it was just a seasonal allergy problem. As with so many shelties, Angel does not like thunder, fire works ~ or people fighting/yelling at each other.

Now that it is March 10, Angel's foster mom will be taking more pictures to show how much Angel has improved.
She will still need someone to continue with her supplements, as well as cleaning her ears and some baths. But the skin on her feet & legs is greatly improved and we are getting some hair. Her coat is very nice. The one ear still has some yeast deep inside. Her toes, especially the declaw, still get a little icky brown/ black stuff between them. It took 7 years for her to get this way ..... it is not going to be perfect/normal overnight.
You should see her play with an exercises ball. You have to take it away from her or she won't stop playing. She rolls it all around the house and maneuvers it out of corners. She just loves it!!
She will make someone a great companion. Preferably, someone who is retired/semi-retired ~ a "stay at home mom" because Angel has never been alone .... but her foster mom will consider all applicants.

Pup-Date December 17th from foster mom Donna:
Angel is a great spirit ......she lives with all her pain and discomfort like a lady.
She has bi-lateral hip dysplasia and was never on supplements for her hips, so has developed a lot of arthritis. Angel was diagnosed young for the hip dysplasia. My Vet suggested she go on supplements to try and stop any further degeneration. Her front feet are so broken I just do not know how she walks on them.
Angel loves to play catch, fetch with her many balls .... and even throws them back to you.
She is settling in and not whining as much. Sunday the 14 I took her to my club's Christmas party. I think she was a little embarrassed by all the people asking about her. I had a talk with her to let her know she is just as beautiful as all the other shelties ~ and once she heals, she will have most of her hair back and look like the other shelties. It seemed to help and she went on to play a game. It took her 10 seconds to get a biscuit out of a water bowl. You could see her thinking and then she got it. She also got a new ball, which she started to play with and now is one of her favorites.
I think she will make someone a wonderful companion.

These pictures were taken in November when Angel first came to NJ Sheltie Rescue.
They are difficult to see ~ one can only imagine how itchy/painful poor Angel has been .... getting worse and worse over a seven year period.
